I’ve been asked this question directly a few times this year, and the answer I gave always boiled down to something like “Get a handle on all of your general expenses and your specific job expenses.” This made sense to me because I know that having an idea of this allows you to know where you stand with each job. It was a no brainer answer. Don’t worry about what the market prices dictate. If you want to earn money, this was what matters most.

However, this isn’t nearly extensive enough an answer to the photographer that is consistently being commissioned for jobs. One who is making it “professionally.”

This video will surely give those of you on that path a solid starting point, but you must, must put a pen to paper to get the most out of this.

I’m glad Mark Wallace decided to make this helpful video with Adorama  because even though I watched his presentation at Creative Live a few weeks ago, I didn’t get to study it in depth and I didn’t purchase the workshop videos.
