I’ve come to one conclusion about camera bags. The perfect ONE just doesn’t seem to exist- yet. I’ve heard photographers express this many times and I thought, that’s ridiculous, why would someone need 10 camera bags?!

I find myself now working up to 4. The first bag I bought was a Kata rucksack. Big enough to support a Canon Rebel, and 3 to 4 lenses, even a 70-200mm L lens with one or two smaller lenses. This was fine. But then I had the need to carry around my 13in Macbook with me at the same time I wanted to be prepared to shoot. So, I followed another photographer/blogger’s suggestion and eyed the Kata Sensitivity and found a good deal on ebay. This bag has been my daily carry around to work, where I use my laptop, and after work when necessary, I can whip out (not quite) the camera for street photography or public events. The bag is sleek, and form fitting. Considering the blogger whose suggestion I followed, and her femininity, I could see why this bag was attractive to her. It does allow you to carry a few key items, without being bulky and conspicuous, the way most camera bags are. But now, I’ve outgrown this and the original Kata bag. I now have three strobes, one additional lens, and various flash modifiers which need room to be ported conveniently.

So, I bought one more bag from adorama, by lowepro recently. This is to be my workhorse bag, a shoulder carry bag with room for two strobes, my Rebel body with a lens mounted and about three lenses, not forgetting to mention the accessories, lens wipes, caps, sets of double AA’s and Cactus wireless triggers/receivers.

Now, I’m looking at another backpack, one that will let me carry the laptop( up to 17 inches), two DSLR bodies- for the day I get that second body, my strobes, and at least 2-3 additional lenses unmounted. I saw the Kata DR-467 on sale this weekend, and jumped on it for $60. Hopefully there’s room to carry my lunch to work in this one.

And let’s hope this is the last bag I shall ever want. :S
