Color correction should be at the top of the list when it comes to important adjustments to make to an image, especially when photographs are taken indoors under tungsten incandescent lighting. White balance is done to counter the effect of light color on the subjects in the images the camera captures. Again, this is a limitation of the dumb camera sensor, which doesn’t innately know what pure white is supposed to look like under different lighting conditions. Under blue light, a sheet of white paper will appear…well blue, and this has consequences for the representation of all colors in an image. Check out the example below :

Using the Neutral color picker as described in the previous post, and by selecting the white on the cup as your neutral tone, you will result in an image with much more accurate to life color representation.

A much more pleasing image to look at, relatively speaking. Of course, if you knew nothing about color correction, the before image would probably be fine to your eyes.
