I found a bird feeder spot where all the action was going down after the 2nd (? I lost count) major snowstorm this year. You know, I bet we’ve got a lot of frustrated squirrels in NYC parks right now, upset that every week they lose track of their nuts. Surely they’re not alone in their frustration with the weather either, I’m know most people are fed up with the weather, too- and it’s just the end of January guys.  Anyway,  I’d never been to this part of the park, but you can find a bird feeder which has enough seed to support all the birds of the park – it looks. Sorry I can’t tell you how I got there, cuz I didn’t recognize any landmarks – they were all covered by snow. I thought these red and black guys were cardinals, but now looking at THIS particular guy, and his squat stature, i’m wondering whether he’s a Finch- are Cardinals finches?  Whatever. I scooped out a seat in the snow so i could get right up under the birds as they fought for seed. They were startled and flew away naturally, as I encroached, but the lure of abundant seed on the Brooklyn tundra was a boon not to pass up. After sitting a while they no longer perceived a threat and came in pretty close, close enough to get this shot with my 85mm.
