I, for one, have put off the purchase of a real Rain protection solution for my camera AND lenses far too long. You never know when you may find yourself outdoors, perhaps in a tropical climate and caught in a spot shower, or just caught in a rainy parade. The normal course, especially without a weather sealed camera body and lens , would be to put your gear away until the precipitation halts, before resuming your shooting. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

During the village Halloween parade 2 years ago, there was a steady rain in which I was determined to shoot through without specific rain protection for the camera. I didn’t have a weather sealed camera body, but I did shoot with a weather sealed Canon 70-200mm L lens. I also shot with a Tamron 17-50mm non weather sealed wide-standard lens. A few months later, I found something disturbing on my lens- it looked like a spot of fungus, to which I later attributed to water getting into the lens during that October parade. Live and learn.
