Many have lost property and loved ones after hurricane Sandy ripped through the Northeastern coast of the US. I'm thankful to have suffered no immediate losses, but I'm far from immediately unaffected by the chaos Sandy whipped up.
It now marks one year on the calendar since last year's Mermaid Parade. This time, I DO have that 85mm f1.8 lens that I wished I had last year. That AND a new Camera body. I'll be rocking the Canon 60D for its first tour of duty during the parade. The forecast
Hanami, or the Japanese traditional practice of flower viewing is many centuries old. Depending on the season, the Japanese flowering Cherry trees bloom anywhere from late March early April to the middle of May. Hanami refers to the month long spectacle that culminates with the Sakura Matsuri weekend festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
Spring is actually here, believe it or not. One of my annual spring-time activities is a walk through the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I challenge myself each time I visit to see something new-- some detail or some new perspective that I haven't photographed before. We've been having a particularly stormy and icy winter this year. I think I finally have the chance to take those kinds of photos which make me jealous of more remotely located photographers. If you live in Canada, I hate you, Denver, hate, Alaska, I hate you for the landscapes you see on the daily.
